Guidelines
- Please make sure the media you upload has a proper Commons license
- For possible PD licenses, please check the PD copyright tags for Romania. Other Romania-related licenses/templates can be found at Other copyright tags for Romania and under Category:Templates related to Romania
- Be careful when uploading photos with statues and buildings. Unfortunately, Romania doesn't have the Freedom of Panorama (FoP). This means that copyright protection expires 70 years after the death of the original author (artist, architect, designer etc).
- When uploading art or archaeological objects, we highly recommend the use of {{Artwork}} (instead of {{Information}}) since it provides specialized fields where very important detail can be provided (discovery date, current location etc.)
- For batch uploads, we recommend Commonist since it can be configured to upload media and automatically apply {{Artwork}}
- To migrate your existing files from {{Information}} to {{Artwork}}, you can use AutoWikiBrowser to search and replace "{{Information" with "{{subst:Artwork/subst"
- For example, see:
- We suggest longer, descriptive names for files, as in Map with Trajans Bridge and Roman Ruins in Danubius Pannonico-Mysicus 1726 by Marsigli.jpg, instead of names like Map01.jpg
- Use Sum-it-up to automatically provide multilingual descriptions and interwiki links to categories and galleries (e.g. Category:Michael the Brave, Mihai Viteazul) and What is that? for adding multilingual descriptions to files (e.g. File:MihaiViteazul.jpg). You can also add both tools to your Toolbox on the left menu from your Preferences, Gadgets tab. This greatly enhances the ability of other users to find and use the files across all Wikis.
- We recommend the use comma-based Ș, ș and Ț, ț characters as these comply with the Romanian language standards. This has been addressed on ro Wiki using bots and gadgets, but it is still an issue on en Wiki and Commons.
- Make sure you provide reliable sources for the maps you create, and provide the author, book, page in the "Source" field.. Example:
- Try to use the SVG file format for maps, since it is much easier to edit the labels
- If you derive your work from other images on Commons, please create a relationship between the two images using the {{Derived from}}, {{Retouched picture}} and {{Derivative versions}} templates. Example:
Drafts
Below is a list of galleries not ready for prime time, which are kept in the project space. You can help to expand and bring them to the main space. To avoid speedy deletion of new/incomplete galleries, it is advised to create them first as subpages of Drafts or in your user space.
Pages with the prefix 'WikiProject Romania/Drafts' in the 'Commons' and 'Commons talk' namespaces:
